The Institute of Black Invention & Technology is a 501(c)3
non-profit traveling museum. Its mission is to raise awareness of the
achievements and contributions of Black inventors, innovators and scientists.
The institute’s exhibit program includes the Black Inventors Showcase (more than
80 Black achievers), the Traveling Trunk designed for pre-school and school-age
youngsters, and lectures.
Carroll and Sandra Lamb founded the institute after viewing a
similar museum from California at a Black exposition in Philadelphia. Although
the Lambs considered themselves knowledgeable about Black history, they realized
they knew little about Black inventors. The Lambs believe that more people,
particularly children, need to be exposed to the genius of Black inventors.
Through this exposure Black children will broaden their career options to
include the scientific and entrepreneurial fields, and will realize that they
have a richer history than is revealed in school text books.

be instructive. It is always given with our best interest in mind. It is
great to have a resource like this so easily available.” |
